  1. Today I am cooking like crazy. Baking one of Pam’s beautiful chickens on a bed of 8mile creek carrots and onions; reducing a ton of tomatoes (which are teetering on the edge) to their most intensely flavorful form– tomato sauce!; steaming beets for a salad (with goat cheese and a tangy mustard dressing); steaming green beans– because I know Melissa worked hard to pick them…
And unbelievably, a mouse just ran under the stove, while I am standing here! I’m shocked and saddened, because my day in the kitchen was near perfect. What to do. Should I go into killing mode? The god’s honest truth is that I believe I felt a spider run across my face the other night, and I didn’t do a thing. Thankfully in the morning there were no evidence of bites, no necrotic holes…Maybe I should just live and let live….Any ideas, anyone?
